I keep having some difficulty signing in- may just be my old IE but...if I click "remember me" I manage to get in for that session - still need to re-sign-in if I leave and come back.
If I don't click "remember me" I show up as signed-in on the active users list, but am not able to post - keep getting asked to sign-in when I attempt to start a topic or reply.

The login session timeout was set for 15 minutes. This means that if you didn't click anything for 15 minutes the system logs you out automatically. The logout happens on your first click after the time out occurs.
I have extended this to one hour. I believe this will solve your problem.
If it still occurs, try logging in using a different browser to see if it's actually your IE causing the problem.
Keep me posted.

Thanks..
I'm still having trouble signing-in if I am not and try to respond to a thread. But if I sign-in immediatly upon getting to the site - no problem.
When I try to reply to a thread and sign-in - it starts to load and then goes back to the thread page while updating my online status in the "who's online" section at the bottom, but not acknowledging my status so that I can post.
I think it's my version of IE (no clue what it is) as I have no problem when home and on Firefox.

Thank you christina. It definitely seems to be an IE version issue. I cannot re-create the issue but it is probably an IE 7 issue. If anyone else is having this issue please post here with your Browser type and version.

I don't have the problem but another issue could be your host (expecially if it happens to be AOL or any other one that changes your IP address during the session). I manage a forum on my boyfriend's site and we have the issue all the time for the few members who use AOL, the site software uses cookies that capture the IP address, and AOL then changes the IP address during the same session so you keep getting prompted to sign on again. No solution, other than not using AOL as a provider, of course.
...plink plink....my 2 cents

My problem with signing in is when I go to post, it makes me sign in again, and then it says I already posted...
hmmm... *shrug :D

Hi Chandra,
What browser are you using?

I believe I have noticed the problem mostly while browsing at work with a PC and internet explorer. I will make a point of remembering if it happens at home with my mac and firefox!
So for more details:
I hit reply, it has me log in. I type, I hit post, it has me log in again, and then takes me back to the page where I typed. I hit post again, thinking it didnt post, but then it gives the 30 second between posts errors, and when I return to the thread it turns out I had actually posted.
Is it my firewall settings or something somehow? The place where I work has some pretty quirky network settings.

It could be the security settings at work. It sounds like the cookie that's set when you login is being dropped. You won't have a problem with Mac and Firefox or Safari...That's what I use too. :)
