Taj is an exciting place to dance. The atmosphere of the place is tremendous. The mix of music has kept me on the dance floor all night every time I go there. Thank you John for your continued efforts to keep an environment in NYC for a classy swing venue. I absolutely love dancing at Taj.

So, I will be there tomorrow night with bells on - but the quiet kind of bells so they don't interupt the music.

TAJ Haitus
For the Best of All Reasons
TAJ Lounge is undergoing a renovation. A new, smooth floor, new A/C, and light remodeling will be taking place for the next 5 weeks. All great news. Except there will be no party there for 5 weeks. Effective immediately. Working on Plan B. Stay tuned.

TAJ is on a hiatus for now. They are renovating: installing a new smooth floor, new A/C and some light redecorating. The party tonight is canceled and Taj wil be closed for 5 weeks. Please pass the word and I apologize for the late notice.

I am looking for another place to have a party for those 5 weeks, as that's a long time. Keep your ear to the railroad track. I'll let you all know.

Yes, :) but at the Blarney Stone for now. Taj wanted more business than what this dance was bringing in so.....:(

I believe a search is on for a new home and SW has been nice enough to support the Strickly Festa dance on Wednesdays.

I like the idea of Thursday night....so much easier to wake up to a Friday morning. Uptown, for me as a NJ commuter, not so great. I would prefer Blarney Stone, much more centrally located.

I think Thursday is better for me too. I liked the Columbus 72 place. Funky/kitschy with a nice vibe, places to sit, nice size bar. I like the Blarney Stone too, but Blarney Stone all the time can get a little stale.

As another NJ person, I agree with Kelly. Around one of the tunnels would be great.

Thurs. makes for better spacing for the WCS events, but it's a conflict for the Lindy/crossover dancers, since Frim Fram's on Thursday.

It was several years ago. Most of the younger dancers don't know of him, and he prefers to stay under the radar. :cool:

In reference to John Festa's question about Wed. vs. Thurs and 31st vs. 72nd Street, I think Thursday night would be great at Blarney Stone. The location is very central for most people. Also if it's switched to Thursday, maybe a deal could be worked out with Frim Fram where anyone with a wrist band can go back and forth between both venues. This way we get the best of both worlds -WCS and Lindy.

Just my 2 cents.
